Sponsorship is one of the most critical roles of any change.

Without appropriate leadership at the very top, it is extremely difficult to get people to pay attention and participate in your change activities.

in short, Sponsorship = legitimacy.

If the CEO publicly stands up and talks about how important your change is - people are going to listen and be more willing to get involved to help.

Unfortunately though, Sponsorship is often an overlooked and undervalued piece of the change puzzle.
